blog archive, 2011–2015

From February 2011 to early 2015, michaelbommarito.com ran a WordPress blog. It started as a research notebook: Twitter datasets from the 2011 protests in Iran, China, and Wisconsin, the structure of the U.S. Code and Supreme Court headnotes, and notes on Python, R, and igraph. From 2012 the same site also carried Bommarito Consulting's pages and posts, and later the old addresses redirected to bommaritollc.com.

When I rebuilt this site in 2025, the old posts were not carried over and their addresses returned 404. In 2026 I restored them from a July 2012 backup of the WordPress database and, for later posts, from the Internet Archive. Of the 77 posts with public addresses:

  • 34 are back on this site, unedited, under/archives/YYYY/MM/DD/slug/.
  • 31, mostly consulting and engineering notes, are in the Bommarito Consulting archive, with 2026 notes on what has changed since.
  • 12 were not restored: setup notes for software that no longer exists, short link posts, and site announcements. They are listed below with the reason.

Every old address now redirects to the post's new location, or to this page. Text is as published; links that pointed to the old domain go to Internet Archive copies, and some images did not survive.

Several posts published data that was used in academic publications. The original files are available again:
