Outside of for-profit activities, he is passionate about education and community-building. At Michigan State College of Law, he is an Adjunct Professor of Law and Head of Research at Reinvent Law, where students are prepared for the future of the legal profession. In the community, he organizes the Michigan Python Developer Group and Detroit useR Group.

He hold an M.S.E in Financial Engineering, M.A. (Ph.D., ABD) in Political Science, and B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was an NSF-IGERT fellow at the Center for the Study of Complex Systems.
